My grandparents come from Glasgow.
In 2005 we had skirted the edges of Glasgow on our travels north to the Scottish Highlands but we hadn't actually been to the town centre.
So, we drove up to Glasgow and to be honest, we really enjoyed it.
Glasgow is a more working class or at least, a working city, rather than Edinburgh, which is a tourist based city, with a higher emphasis on corporate banking and finance than Glasgow.
Glasgow however, has some superb architecture and the city is characterised by loads of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (spelled the same way as my ancestors, so who knows, maybe I am related way back when!).
We wandered around and had some seriously nice meals...haggis again...mmmmm! and generally had a great time in this underrated city.
